Hi! My name is Amanda (far right)! I have been a Disciples Cross Producer since the beginning of 2008. The Caring Cross idea began when I was selling crosses as a fundraiser for the 3 Day Walk in 2008. I was able to raise over $5,000 for the event! Even after the event, I was still able to sell crosses for extra income.
The official Disciple's Cross is made with a 3.5 Capewell Horseshoe Nail and wrapped with 20G wire. Each cross is made of three distinct components. The simulated leather cord reminds us of the leather straps used to beat our Savior; the wrapped wire stands for the thorn branches twisted into a crown to mock the King of Kings; and the nails represent the large spikes that were driven into the hands and feet of the Lord of Lords.
The Caring Cross is a great way to show off school colors, awareness colors, patriotic, whatever you "care" about!
